About Our School

What makes Yeshiva of Glade Valley different from other schools?

Our approach is built on the belief that Chinuch is revealing who a child is meant to become—not fitting children into a system, but building a system that supports each child. We combine deep Torah learning with hands-on secular education through our farm, kitchens, and enterprise programs. Students learn in multi-age cohorts, allowing for personalized pacing while maintaining strong social bonds. Every child is truly known and supported in our warm, nurturing microschool environment.

What grades do you serve?

We operate as a microschool with multi-age cohorts based on developmental stages rather than traditional grade levels. Students are grouped in ways that honor their individual development and pacing. This allows advanced learners to be challenged while struggling learners receive support—all within a socially nurturing environment. Please contact us to discuss your child's specific situation.

What does a typical day look like?

Mornings are anchored in serious, skill-based Judaic studies—including Chumash, Rashi, Navi, Halacha, middos development, and tefillah—grounding students in Torah learning, identity, and purpose. Afternoons focus on rigorous secular academics woven with hands-on learning through our farm, kitchen, and enterprise programs. Math becomes budgeting and planning; science comes alive through growing food and caring for animals; literacy becomes communication and leadership.

What is the farm and enterprise program?

Our micro-farm and enterprise program is not an add-on—it is educational infrastructure. Through caring for animals, growing food, preparing meals, and managing real systems, students encounter Torah values in daily life. Mitzvos such as tza'ar ba'alei chayim, agricultural halachos, kashrus awareness, and honest measures are learned through lived experience. Students develop from helpers to apprentices to leaders who plan, manage, and mentor others.

How do multi-age cohorts work?

Students learn in mixed-age groups that honor individual pacing without sacrificing social belonging. Children are never rushed ahead or held back unnecessarily. Older students develop leadership by helping younger ones, while younger students benefit from positive role models. Everyone has meaningful ways to contribute, and we delight in the unique strengths each child brings. This model naturally supports both remediation and acceleration without stigma.

How do you measure student success?

We believe success is not measured by conformity or comparison, but by growth, confidence, emotional well-being, and a deepening connection to Torah. We focus on developing grounded, capable, and thoughtful young people who know how to learn, how to lead, and how to live as committed ovdei Hashem—prepared not just for the next stage of schooling, but for life itself.

How do you support diverse learners?

Our model is intentionally designed to support a wide range of learners. A dedicated special education professional works closely with teachers and families to ensure that students receive appropriate support, enrichment, and challenge. The center-based structure allows for natural differentiation within the classroom community. When additional flexibility is needed, individualized pathways allow students to progress at a pace that fits them—without compromising values or connection.

For Founding Families

What does it mean to be a founding family?

Founding families play a unique and meaningful role. You are not joining a finished institution—you are helping to bring a vision to life. Your insights, questions, and partnership will help shape the rhythms, traditions, and culture of Yeshiva of Glade Valley. As a founding family, you are choosing a shared commitment: to honor each child's unique kochos hanefesh, to value growth over comparison, to build Torah learning on warmth, clarity, and depth, and to partner honestly and thoughtfully between home and school.

What is the partnership expectation with families?

We believe that children thrive when school and home are aligned. Yeshiva of Glade Valley is exploring a parent partnership initiative focused on middos development, helping families and educators work together to model and reinforce shared values such as empathy, patience, kindness, and communication. We welcome open, honest dialogue and see parents as essential partners in their child's chinuch.

Is the school connected to a community?

Yes! Yeshiva of Glade Valley serves the MountainView by Shefa Living community, a master-planned community nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The community offers everything a frum family needs—a welcoming shul, mikvah, eruv, access to kosher shopping, and Shabbos-friendly walkways connecting homes to communal spaces. With guidance from HaRav Yaakov Moshe Twerski, it's a place designed for vibrant, observant living.

Practical Questions

What is the student-teacher ratio?

As a microschool, we maintain intentionally small cohorts to ensure deep Rebbe–Morah–Talmid relationships. In our nurturing environment, children are truly seen, guided, and emotionally safe. They are accepted for who they are, encouraged to grow into who they can become, and supported every step of the way. Specific ratios may vary; please contact us for current details.

What is the admissions process?

We welcome families who resonate with our vision and approach. The process typically includes an initial conversation to learn about your family and child, a school visit to experience our environment firsthand, and a meeting with our educational team. We look for families committed to partnership in their child's chinuch. Contact us to begin the conversation.
